Lisa Denning is a Marine Mammal Naturalist and US Coast Guard Licensed Captain. She's lived on the Big Island of Hawaii since 1999, where she works as a professional photographer, videographer, captain and dive leader. She also assists her good friend Joan Ocean with Joan's dolphin and whale seminars and the frequent life changing encounters they provide.

Lisa Denning is a World Class Photographer and Filmmaker who swims among our dear friends, the dolphins and whales regularly, from her home on the Big Island. Living near the ocean, she is always available to rescue dolphins and whales in distress and is a trusted boat captain and swim assistant known among the dive companies from here to the Caribbean. Her willingness to help whenever asked, and her sensitive and telepathic awareness of the needs of people and cetaceans makes her everyone's favorite leader in seminars and boat crews alike. For more than a decade she has worked side by side with me, assisting and offering her wisdom in a wide variety of counseling, swimming, photographic and artistic situations.
Many of you have met Lisa and love her, as I do.
Because the cetaceans know her so well and trust her completely, she is able to take photographic pictures that reflect the loving spirit and curious behaviors of the dolphins and whales. I have watched as they swim to her and pose in front of her camera. It is an amazing phenomenon to witness! There are no other photos and films like hers. They are unique among underwater photographers in the frequency of eye contact that occurs, the close proximity of the cetaceans and the endearing expressions and obvious love between divers, dolphins and whales in the open ocean. This is a skill that requires stamina, hard work, excellent deep diving abilities, strong, steady arms for camera control, and most of all, an eye for what is occurring in the water between the cetaceans and the people.
